Wagner Appraisal Group maintains a central corporate office, as well as several satellite offices strategically spread out around the Chicago metropolitan area. We have resident appraisers that work for us in each of these regions who are very capable and knowledgeable in their areas of coverage. The fact is, the owner and any licensed appraiser is qualified to complete real estate appraisals anywhere within the boundaries of the State of Illinois. The location of their office does not establish how well the appraiser knows the area that they are appraising in. This falls under the competency rule in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. An appraiser should not accept an assignment if they do not have geographic competency to complete the job. A trained appraiser who has access to the data and takes the time to do the necessary research can complete an appraisal anywhere.
